Colorado Springs police saw gun violence and vehicle thefts, among dozens of other offenses, last week, making a total of 330 arrests, according to department records.

From Oct. 5 to Oct. 11,  the Colorado Springs Police Department posted 11 blotter entries to its public database of arrests approved for public release. Here is a recap of those entries: 

On Oct. 5, police were dispatched to a shooting in the 3500 block of North Academy Boulevard, when they found two men with “at least” one gunshot wound each. One of the men had life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital and the other, Daniel Federico, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests have been announced.

On Monday, the Police Department worked with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol to recover a vehicle reported stolen on Oct. 2. From the collaborative BATTLE operation, three people were arrested on charges of robbery and motor vehicle theft, and a fourth person was arrested on outstanding warrants and felony possession of fentanyl.

On Wednesday, police were attempting to arrest a previously wanted man, Jonathan Romero, when he fled on foot. When officers caught up to him, Romero allegedly used a knife and “caused bodily injury” to two officers. Romero was arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment to injuries suffered during arrest and then booked into jail.

On Thursday, a “prolific” motor vehicle theft offender, Kameron Martinez, 24, was arrested after being found in a vehicle reported stolen on Monday. On Wednesday, police attempted to stop the stolen vehicle when it fled at a high speed and turned its headlights off. When police arrested Martinez Thursday, there was a “brief struggle.” Martinez faces charges of motor vehicle theft, felony eluding, obstruction and distribution of narcotics, fentanyl.

On Friday, a vehicle collided with a house near Uintah and North 22nd streets, and when police arrived, they found the driver of the vehicle was dead. Nobody inside the residence was injured and the Major Crash Team assumed control of the investigation.

On Saturday, police arrested Ethan Olsen after he allegedly attempted to pick pocket pedestrians and then disarm an officer in the 1200 block of Interquest Parkway. Olsen faces charges of disarming a police officer and is on a mental health hold at the jail.

More incidents at a glance

• On Tuesday, detectives from the Police Department’s Regional Explosives Unit responded to a report of a suspicious package in the 2100 block of Southgate Road. The package contained a “hoax device,” and the investigation into the sender is ongoing.
• Also on Tuesday, Arthur Tolley, 52, was arrested after being found in a vehicle reported stolen on Oct. 3. Tolley allegedly fled from police multiple times before being put in custody. He faces charges of motor vehicle theft and vehicular eluding.
• On Wednesday, Ernesto Garcia, 40, was found unconscious in his vehicle and then fled the scene when he regained consciousness. When police attempted to contact him, he crashed into another vehicle while trying to get away and then fled on foot, leading to his arrest.
• Also on Wednesday, Mario Rascon, 31, was arrested after he was found in a vehicle reported stolen on Sept. 2 from the 200 block of North Academy Boulevard. Rascon had an outstanding warrant for felony menacing with a deadly weapon.
• On Saturday, police were dispatched to a shooting in the 1000 block of East Vermijo Avenue. When they arrived, one man “peacefully” surrendered to officers. He was transported to a hospital for treatment for an unspecified injury, and charges are pending.
