Colorado Springs officers struck during arrest of wanted person

A wanted man was arrested after fleeing on foot and striking two Colorado Springs police officers on Wednesday, according to a blotter entry by the department.

Around 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday, officers were checking the 2800 block of East Pikes Peak Avenue for a wanted person. He fled on foot when officers located and attempted to detain him, according to the entry.

After catching up to him, officers saw he had a knife and attempted an arrest. The suspect physically resisted the officers, striking two of them, according to the entry.

Both officers suffered minor injuries and neither required medical attention, according to police.

The suspect, Jonathan Romero, was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the arrest.
