No more Boecore. The Colorado Springs-based defense company bought by Enlightenment Capital two years ago has since added a trio of other companies. A branding shift announced Monday will link the firm’s various new additions under the name Auria.

A derivative of the word “aurora” or “dawn” in Latin, Tom Dickson, Auria’s president, said the name is meant to symbolize the company’s work in the space sector as the firm endeavors to unify its various strands of expertise in satellite communication, software development and cybersecurity.

“What it really means is that we are truly a united company that can deliver really cool solutions to our customers,” Dickson said. “We are already integrating some of our products together to answer some of the customers’ challenges.”

As an aerospace defense contractor, Auria caters to public and private customers in federal, international, and commercial realms. Boecore, founded by Kathy Boe, who now serves on the company’s board of directors, sold her company to Enlightenment Capital with the intention for the Boecore’s name to be a catalyst for future acquisitions, The Gazette reported in 2022.

During 2023, Boecore, now Auria, added Ascension Engineering Group, Orbit Logic, and La Jolla Logic —bringing the company’s total workforce across multiple states to 420 employees.

Boecore entered the homestretch of 2023 securing state and local funding tax incentives with its plan to bring more than 600 jobs to the Pikes Peak region and invest nearly $8 million to remodel and expand its facilities.

Dickson said the company’s new headquarters at a 17,000-square-foot facility on the northeast corner of Voyager and Research parkways will display the Auria name within the next four to six weeks.

“We’re trying to get the word out that we’re still the same company, that we deliver great things,” Dickson said. “Just a lot more powerful than we were before.”
