The city of Colorado Springs is scheduled to be on burn restrictions starting at noon Friday, according to a news release.

Because of ongoing fire hazards and hot, dry weather forecasts, the burn restriction will be in effect within city limits and remain in effect until rescinded by Brett Lacey, fire marshal with the Colorado Springs Fire Department.

Residents will be prohibited from the following during the restriction:

• Starting any type of fire, whether open or contained, on any undeveloped wildland areas, brushy areas or grassy areas. 
• Lighting recreational fires, bonfires and open or prescribed burns. 
• Smoking outdoors in all city parks and open spaces.
• Operating small internal combustion engines operated without a properly installed, maintained and functioning spark arrestor.

The order comes after El Paso and Teller counties enacted stage 1 fire restrictions last week for unincorporated areas. Douglas County also put in stage 2 restrictions.
