El Paso County locations of the Division of Motor Vehicles will be closed for much of next week, as the state undergoes system updates.

The state DMV will upgrade its “outdated” driver license and motor vehicle technology system, according to a release. It will also upgrade the public e-services platform myDMV.

Local DMV offices closed at noon Friday, Feb. 13 and won’t reopen until Feb. 19.

The new system will be more “user-friendly” and allow people to enroll in e-communications, including courtesy vehicle renewal notifications.

Colorado DMV Senior Director Electra Bustle said in the release that the upgrade will “modernize” the system “with better security and functionality for staff and county staff” and give users “a better customer experience with our online services” with a logged in account.

Driver’s license online services will be down statewide starting Tuesday, Feb. 10 until Feb. 17, while all other online and kiosk services will be unavailable after 7 p.m. each night of that period.

State offices will also be closed for scheduled appointments after 3 p.m. during the upgrade period.
