Road closures around Colorado: Updated list

While the big snow storm that dumped more than 20 inches of snow in some metro areas around Colorado is over,  some weather-related highway closures persisted through Saturday.

U.S. 24 between Colorado Springs and Limon, and southbound Interstate 25 from Pueblo New Mexico, were both closed Saturday morning, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Both roadways have since reopened.

Late Friday afternoon, commercial motor vehicles were prohibited from traveling on southbound I-25, between C470 (exit 194) and Academy Boulevard, due to “lack of parking and resources between the Denver area and Colorado Springs,” according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The restrictions also applied to towed vehicles, and were in effect until 8 a.m. Saturday. Interstate 70 from Golden to Silverthorne was included in the ban.

Most roadways had reopened by Saturday night, but CDOT listed the following as still being closed due to adverse weather conditions:

  • US 24 Eastbound/Westbound Seibert to Burlington
  • CO 94 Eastbound/Westbound to Near Rush to US 287 Junction

  • US 287 Northbound from Ted’s Place to Wyoming Border.
