The University of Colorado Colorado Springs College of Engineering and Applied Science celebrated the completion of the Anschutz Engineering Center and the Design and Prototyping Center on Thursday, according to a news release from UCCS.

The 23,000-square-foot Anschutz Engineering Center will be the home to state-of-the-art laboratory space, classroom facilities, an executive conference room and faculty offices, UCCS said in the news release.

The project includes the nearby 3,000-square-foot Design and Prototyping Center building dedicated to fabrication, electric vehicle technology and other projects.

The Anschutz Foundation made a financial donation of an unspecified amount, it was announced by UCCS officials during a groundbreaking ceremony in August 2022.

The building was intended to add engineering education capacity — and majors — to a university system that struggled in recent years to handle the field’s growing popularity and relevance.

The Anschutz Engineering Center was designed by Oz Architecture of Denver and built by GH Phipps Construction Companies of Colorado Springs.
