TABLE TALK: B&E Filling Station spot finds its old ... er, new owner

Chris Bohler, who with his wife, Kerri, own The Villa Italian Restaurant in Palmer Lake, have teamed up with Mike Elliott and Marina LaRiva to open La Rosa Southwestern Dining, 25 S. Colorado 105 in Palmer Lake. If that address looks familiar that’s because it was to the former B&E Filling Station, which was originally opened by Bohler and Elliott. It’s a long story, but it’s interesting how things have come full circle. Bohler and Elliott worked at The Villa before they branched out to create the B&E in February 1996. Elliot sold his share of the B&E to Bohler in 2000. Elliot opened Bella Panini across the street from the restaurants. He sold that business in 2003 and moved to Tennessee. Now he has returned to breathe new life into the little eatery that has changed hands a few times since Bohler sold it. The La Rosa menu features authentic New Mexico and southwestern cuisine.LaRiva will be familiar to many Margarita at PineCreek customers because she was a server there for 27 years.

La Rosa’s hours are 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sundays; and 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Fridays through Saturdays. Call 368-7676 or visit facebook.com/larosamexicanfood.
