Cheyenne Mountain 2nd, Pine Creek 3rd in state girls’ tennis

Children of military servicemen and servicewomen who have been injured or who have fallen in combat can sign up for Camp Corral, a free weeklong, nationwide outdoor summer camp.

The camp, sponsored by the Golden Corral restaurant chain, is for children ages 8 to 15, and offers a traditional summer camp experience with swimming, boating, archery, horseback riding, crafts and campfire stories.

According to the website, Golden Corral sponsors campers to give back to our military and to give kids a chance to just be kids for a week.

“Camp Corral was created to be a fun learning experience, but most importantly, to give these campers a week to just be kids in the great outdoors,” organizers state on the website. “Campers wake up early each morning and spend their day doing amazing things most have never done before.”

The camps are offered in July or August in Colorado, Texas, Kansas, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.  Campers in Colorado can spend the week at the YMCA’s Camp Shady Brook near Sedalia or in Fort Collins.

Register online at www.campcorral.org.
