Sky Sox hold kickoff luncheon
The Sky Sox welcome luncheon is held annually to introduce the team to the community – it’s also critical in helping the team get to know itself.
Players exchanged cell phone numbers and small talk over sandwiches on Tuesday as the team – which was hastily put together in days and hours before – met with 300 or so team representatives, corporate sponsors and fans at the Garden Pavilion of Penrose House.
“We had a team meeting (Monday) night and kind of talked about getting to know everybody,” said pitcher Greg Reynolds, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2006 MLB draft, who will start Thursday’s opener against Las Vegas at 6:05 p.m. at Security Service Field. “We’re going to have to do it on the fly, because right now we don’t know each other. But it’s always fun to make new friends.”
