Colorado Springs police K9 chosen to work security at 2024 Super Bowl

Colorado Springs Police dog Donut and her handler will be providing security at the Super Bowl this year, the CSPD announced.

Donut, a 6-year-old German shorthaired pointer, and her handler officer Rodney Biechler will be headed to Las Vegas, NV, to join a group of other canine teams selected from across the country to provide security for the event.

She and Officer Biechler work in the CSPD’s Colorado Springs Airport unit where Donut is an explosives detection dog. Donut has been working with the CSPD since last January, according to the release.

This year is Donut’s second time working at the Super Bowl. She and her handler traveled to Arizona last year.

According to the CSPD, Donut is a big fan of tennis balls and getting lots of running exercise.
