Man robs Radio Shack at gunpoint
A man reportedly robbed a Radio Shack store on the west side of Colorado Springs on Monday morning and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and electronics, police said.
It was the second of two armed robberies police reported in Colorado Springs on Monday. Officers haven’t arrested anyone or identified suspects in either case. No one was hurt.
Police learned of the Radio Shack robbery from someone who said he’d been on the phone with the store at 406 S. Eighth St. and heard what sounded like a robbery, including someone saying “give me the money” and “don’t shoot,” according to a police report.
The robber was armed with a semiautomatic handgun, police said. He was gone by the time officers arrived.
Police found evidence in a field west of the store and connected it to an apartment on West Moreno Avenue, but an investigation found that the man who lives in the apartment was at work at the time of the robbery.
Another robbery happened at the ARC Thrift Store at 4402 Austin Bluffs Parkway about 6:50 a.m. Monday, according to a police report. Police said a man entered the store through an unlocked front door and tried to get into an office where money is kept.
An employee locked the man out of the office, and he left without obtaining any money, police said.
The two robberies are apparently not related.
