A Fort Carson sergeant accused of stabbing another soldier dozens of times is slated to face a court-martial in connection with the killing.

Sgt. Vincinte Jackson, with the 576th Engineer Company of the 4th Engineer Battalion, is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, said Maj. Earl Brown, a post spokesman. Jackson’s tentative trial date is set for Oct. 22.

Army prosecutors allege Jackson stabbed Spc. Brandy Fonteneaux to death in her barracks room sometime between Jan. 6 and Jan. 8 after a night of heavy drinking.

One of Jackson’s friends testified at a May evidence hearing that Jackson confessed to the slaying days after her body was discovered on Jan. 8. Jackson’s mental state at the time of the killing became a point of contention during the hearing.
