DUI crash involving sheriff’s deputy cruiser under investigation in Colorado Springs
A crash along Interstate 25 involving a sheriff’s deputy cruiser is under investigation Friday morning, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Police said on Thursday at 3:39 p.m., the Colorado State Patrol reported a crash along Interstate 25 at Circle Drive involving at least two vehicles.
Officers on the scene discovered a vehicle had been traveling in the southbound left lane when the driver left the roadway, struck the median, ricocheted off the median and struck an on-duty Huerfano County Sheriff’s Office Cruiser.
According to officials, the suspect vehicle continued to rotate and struck the cruiser a second time in the rear.
“Both vehicles had disabling damage and were later towed from the scene,” officials said.
Amid the duration of the investigation, I-25 near Circle Drive was reduced to a single lane, officials said.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle is facing DUI charges and has been identified as Russel Adam.
