Victims identified from 2 fatal Pueblo County highway crashes

Two victims involved in crashes on Colorado 165 and Colorado 50 were identified as 36-year-old Crystal M. Case and 46-year-old Robert J. Hepler, the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office announced Monday.

Colorado State Patrol is investigating both Saturday evening crashes and no cause has been determined as of Monday, the agency said.

Hepler is believed to have been fatally struck by a Chevrolet Trax while walking across U.S. 50 near milepost 315 around 9:50 p.m.

Case was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Colorado 165 near milepost 36 toward Interstate 25 around 11:20 p.m. when she allegedly failed to navigate a curve before driving into oncoming traffic and off the left shoulder, according to State Patrol.

She then struck a split-rail fence, rolled the vehicle over several times and was ejected.
