Pueblo police arrested a man after 11 p.m. Thursday after he allegedly he drove under the influence of alcohol and hit a Jeep, seriously injuring all four of its occupants, the agency announced in a press release.

Jose Rojas-Fernandez, 54, “appeared to be intoxicated” when he was found by police about 100 yards from the site of the crash driving a Ram pickup truck.

The crash caused two of the occupants of the Jeep to be ejected, while the driver had to be extracted by Pueblo firefighters, according to police.

Rojas-Fernandez is facing charges of driving under the influence, vehicular assault, careless driving causing serious bodily injury and prohibited use of a weapon.

As of Friday evening, Pueblo County jail records show he had not posted his $20,000 bond. Rojas-Fernandez will appear in a Pueblo County courtroom for his first appearance on June 4.
