Gas prices remain high in Colorado Springs
More than a week after the average price for a gallon of gas exceeded $4 in Colorado Springs, the price at the pump remains persistently high.
A gallon of gas will set Colorado Springs’ residents back $4.344, up from last week’s average of $4.254, according to AAA Colorado.
Everyday, 1502 S. Tejon St., had the cheapest gas in the Springs at $4.04 per gallon as of Thursday afternoon. The lowest noncash option was the Maverik, 2190 Vickers Drive, at $4.09, according to GasBuddy.

The highest average price recorded by AAA Colorado was $4.948 in June 2022. One year ago, the price at the pump was $3.127. One month ago, it was $3.719.
The national average of $4.558 remains below the cost of fuel in other nations. In France, a gallon of gasoline will set one back $8.90, according to GlobalPetrolPrices.com. In the United Kingdom, a gallon costs $8.06, the same source indicates.
The pain at the pump comes amid continued worldwide tension as the U.S. and Iran continue to attack each another in a now monthslong conflict. There have been several attempts to negotiate a ceasefire, but as of Thursday afternoon, no deal had been reached, according to news reports.
Crude oil prices, notably West Texas Intermediate, a national benchmark, closed at $94.81 per barrel. It peaked this week at just over $107 per barrel. The cost of crude oil — the main ingredient in gasoline — has spiked and swung rapidly. That’s because the conflict has caused deep supply chain disruptions and cuts from major oil producers across the Middle East, according to The Associated Press.
