8-year-old girl grabbed off street, later released
An 8-year-old girl was grabbed Tuesday afternoon on a Stratmoor Valley street by a man who drove off with her but dropped her off on Loomis Avenue about 15 minutes later, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.
No injuries were reported in connection with the 3:30 p.m. abduction south of Colorado Springs.
Deputies are looking for a bald white male who was wearing a green cap and might go by the name Jason, said Sgt. Joe Roybal, a sheriff’s spokesman. He was driving a blue four-door sedan with a black interior.
The girl has been reunited with her parents, Roybal said.
Roybal said another person witnesses the abduction and reported it to deputies about the same time the girl was released. That’s why authorities did not put out an Amber Alert, he said.
She was abducted in the 1200 block of Forest Road and released in the 4400 block of Loomis Avenue, he said. Deputies previously said she was dropped off on B Street, which runs parallel to Loomis.
“We have units in the area looking and investigators working on the case as well,” Roybal said.
