Sky Sox update
For the record: The Sky Sox stand at 62-56, but are still seven games back of the Reno Aces in the Pacific Northern division.
Rotation: Cory Riordan, then Nick Schmidt, Guillermo Moscoso, Rob Scahill
Blackmon on fire: Colorado Springs’ latest offensive power, outfielder Justin Blackmon, leads the league in runs (35) and hits (49) since returning to the lineup July 4.
Right at home: Second baseman Charlie Culberson, acquired from the Giants when the Rockies traded away Marco Scutaro, has collected a hit in all of his seven games in a Sky Sox uniform.
Riding the wave: The Sky Sox have won six of their past eight games, all on the road. But they still lag well behind Reno, which has 21 wins (compared to Colorado Springs’ 22) since the beginning of July.
New faces, new places: The Rockies moved righty Joey Williamson from Double-A Tulsa up to Triple-A Colorado Springs Wednesday. He posted a 7.19 ERA in nine games with the Sky Sox last year, his first time playing Triple-A ball. He made 36 appearances with the Drillers this year as a relief pitcher.
