ANITA’S PICK: Comic Art Fest 2012
Admittedly, I’m a bit of a super dork. I love “Star Wars,” I can’t get enough of “The Walking Dead” and I own boxes and boxes of beautiful comic books. I’m always down for a good story line, but what I really dig about these bite size paperbacks is the artwork. This festival is the local be all end all dedicated to encouraging kids to draw while using comic book art as the inspiration. Escape Velocity Comics, 19 E. Bijou St., has sketched up an afternoon the whole family can get animated about. It runs from 1-5 p.m. Saturday. There will be several professional comic book artists on hand giving art presentations and demos every thirty minutes, the store will be handing out freebies including books on how-to-draw comics and much more.
