IGNORETRACY’S PICK: ‘Hyakkimaru’s Kirie World’ at the FAC
The earliest example of papercutting dates back to sixth century China. By the 16th century, much of Europe was creating art with lowly scissors and paper. Japanese artist Hyakkimaru has continued the tradition, which is called “kirie,” in images delicate, detailed and exquisitely beautiful. “Hyakkimaru’s Kirie World” opens Saturday at the Fine Arts Center, 30 W. Dale St., in conjunction with the celebration of our sister city relationship with Fujiyoshida. For info: 634-5583 and csfineartscenter.org.
