What does the taster say?: More subtle than traditional grocery store goat cheese, for those that don’t enjoy the intense goat cheese flavor these are great for adding to salads. Chevre has a wonderful sour cream flavor that is creamy and delicious. Would be a great add as a floater on soups or mix with a dip for sliced fruit.

Know Your Food: Mini Moos and Kids Too maintains a licensed, Grade A diary of 25 goats to produce over one ton of cheese each year. They started raising goats in 2005, opened officially in 2008.Their herd consists of Nubian goats, Alpine goats, and Nubian-Alpine mixes (each goat is named for their distinct personalities). All were born on the dairy and are raised by Rob and Amy Anderson. Rob or one of their two employees milks the goats twice a day, six at a time, in a sanitized milking parlor.
The milk is then sampled, to ensure it’s free of antibiotics, and processed within 24 hours. The dairy lightly pasteurizes their milk, so if you want to make your own cheese or yogurt, it’s the same milk as what Rob and Amy use to make their products. They also sell the milk and goat soaps.
Cheeses include chevre as well as semisoft cheeses including plain, garlic herb, Herb de Provence, lemon-pepper garlic, garlic basil, jalapeno, red pepper and a cheddar made from unpasteurized milk. Cheddar has limited availability.
