Former Lewis-Palmer star Alexa Smith transferring to Colorado

Former Lewis-Palmer star volleyball player Alexa Smith has joined the Colorado Buffaloes after playing her freshman season at Purdue, CU coach Jesse Mahoney announced Monday.

Smith, a 6-foot-1 outside hitter who was two-time Gazette Big Schools Volleyball Peak Performer of the Year, will have three years of eligibility.

“I’m so excited to be back in Colorado and to represent this state once again,” Smith said in a news release. “I am really looking forward to playing for coach Mahoney and being part of the program at CU. I am also very grateful to be able to play close to home and to be closer to my family.”
