6 injured in 5-vehicle crash near Monument: Colorado State Patrol

At least six people were taken to a hospital following a five-vehicle collision on Interstate 25, just north of Colorado Springs, according to the State Patrol.

The crash took place just before 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes of the interstate, near Monument, officials said.

The highway was shut down for about 90 minutes, with traffic diverted to Jackson Creek Parkway, while emergency responders cleared the scene and transported the injured motorists, according to State Trooper Gabriel Moltrer.

State Patrol could not confirm the cause of the crash, but a high wind warning was in effect, with snow showers in some areas, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

The conditions of the injured motorists were unknown as of Sunday afternoon.
