Pueblo County Sheriff’s deputies and K-9 Zeus rounded up four suspects in two separate and unrelated crimes in the south sector of Pueblo County Monday afternoon.

At 3:30 p.m., deputies responded to a trespassing call for service after a witness called to report a suspicious vehicle covered by a tarp on private property near Brian Avenue. While deputies were on the way, they were informed that a man had gotten out of the vehicle and was walking in the area.

Upon arrival, a man matching the description of the suspect was spotted walking east through a field. Deputies report approaching the man, later identified as Bret Seeley, 29, and issuing several verbal commands to get on the ground and show his hands.

A deputy threatened to deploy Zeus when Seeley began to run. He stopped running but still did not listen to commands. Deputies used a Taser gun on Seeley and took him into custody.

Seeley was arrested on five outstanding warrants, with bonds totaling $70,000. He has been booked into the Pueblo County Jail.

Shortly after the first incident, deputies were sent to another call for service, this time regarding a burglary in progress call in the 8000 block of Highway 165 in Rye.

A citizen reported seeing a truck and a trailer drive into the property and saw three people come out and go on to break into the house according to the sheriff’s office.

Upon arrival, deputies saw one man coming out of the home with several bags, who then retreated back inside upon seeing law enforcement and Zeus.

The deputy gave commands for the suspect, later identified as Gary Biby, 62, to come out of the home or he would deploy Zeus. Biby complied and was soon after taken into custody.

Deputies, along with Zeus, conducted a search of the home for the other two suspects. The K-9 was able to locate a woman hiding under blankets in a bedroom.

The woman, identified as Tabitha Brooks, 28,was given several verbal commands to come out from under the blanket but she refused. Zeus was deployed and Brooks was taken into custody.

Deputies were then informed of a third suspect, later identified as Jake Jones, 40, who was on the roof of the home. Verbal commands were given and Jones complied and was taken into custody without incident.

Various items from the residence were located in the truck. Deputies seized the truck and trailer and are currently seeking a search warrant for the vehicles.

Jones, Biby and Brooks were each arrested for second-degree burglary. Brooks was also arrested for criminal impersonation and on six outstanding warrants. All three suspects have been booked into the Pueblo County Jail.

“This was great teamwork by our deputies, K-9 Zeus and the public in reporting, locating and getting all of these suspects into custody,” Pueblo County Sheriff David J. Lucero stated in a press release Tuesday. “I want to thank the individuals who wisely called in when they saw some things that appeared to be suspicious. Their accurate descriptions of the suspects and the suspect vehicles allowed our responding deputies to quickly locate and apprehend all four of these suspects.”
