Colorado Springs police are investigating two early Monday convenience store armed robberies that took place under similar circumstances, law enforcement officials said.

At about 12:45 a.m., officers responded to a call about a robbery at a store in the 1700 block of Jet Wing Drive, police said. Investigators determined that two suspects, one of whom was masked and carrying a handgun, entered the store and demanded money. The second suspect allegedly went behind the counter and started taking items. The suspects left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise.

About two hours later, a second robbery was reported less than five miles away from the first, at a store in the 1400 block of Harrison Road, police said. In this robbery, a masked suspect brandished a gun and demanded money while a second suspect took merchandise from behind the counter. The suspects left the store on foot.

No one was injured during either robbery, officials said.

CSPD said that while it’s too early in the investigation to confirm if the two robberies are connected, it is one of several investigative avenues they are pursuing.
