Michael Gilliam, a suspect in a homicide investigation in late August, was arrested Tuesday, according to Colorado Springs police.

On Aug. 26, Vidal Vigil was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle after police responded to a single-car crash in the 4200 block of North Chestnut Street, near Interstate 25 and Garden of the Gods Road.

Gilliam, 35, faces first-degree murder charges, according to the news release from police Wednesday.

The death of Vigil, 24, was the 30th death to be investigated as a homicide this year. At this time in 2023, there were 21 homicides.
