WPSD names new chief academic officer

Ginger Slocum has been appointed as the new chief academic officer of the Woodland Park School District, WPSD announced on Feb. 29.

She replaces Kim Moore, who has accepted a position as the chief academic officer for the Elizabeth School District.

Slocum has served as the principal at Columbine Elementary for the past five years.

“She has demonstrated dedication, passion, and proven leadership at Columbine,” WPSD said in a press release. “Her wealth of experience and commitment to academic excellence make her the ideal candidate to guide the district’s academic endeavors.”

Slocum holds a Master of Science in Education, with a focus on curriculum & instruction, and a post-master’s degree in administrative educational leadership.

WPSD said Slocum will work closely with Moore, the district’s current CAO, during a transition period. During this period, Slocum will allocate her time between the district office and her responsibilities at Columbine Elementary.

The district said it will post the Columbine Principal position to find a replacement for Slocum soon.
