Fountain PD arrest man for allegedly wounding 2 with gun

The Fountain Police Department announced Thursday that an arrest has been made in an April 25 shooting incident that left two men with apparent gunshot wounds.

Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Blossom Field Road regarding a call about a shooting.

Officers reported finding one adult male with an apparent gunshot wound, but receiving word that others had fled the scene. Another man was eventually found at a local urgent care with a gunshot wound.

According to Thursday’s press release, Fountain detectives later identified 43-year-old David Downey II of Fountain as one of the people who was initially at the scene.

On June 4 Downey was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County jail on suspicion of the following felony charges: possession of a weapon by a previous offender, possessing a dangerous weapon, and illegal discharge of a firearm.

Downey’s next court date is June 13.

This is still an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Detective Michael Bixby at 719-314-9932, or email at mbixby@fountainpd.com.
