Unsubstantiated bomb threat in Calhan leads to arrest

A report of a bomb threat in the 400 block of Colorado Avenue to Calhan police on Thursday prompted businesses to be evacuated, but no explosives were found, according to a news release by the department.

Police responded within two minutes to the initial report that warned of an explosive inside a vehicle on the northern side of town near a grocery store and the Calhan Library.

Bomb squad members from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado Springs Police Department also responded to the area and did not find any explosives.

Calhan police, with the assistance of CSPD, took a man into custody about an hour later, according to the release. The suspect was not named, and no charges were listed.

The release stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.
