The Tri-Lakes Women’s Club launched its inaugural Checkered Table Talk on April 8, welcoming a sold-out crowd for an unforgettable evening of connection, conversation, and community.

The guest speaker was Air Force assistant coach Mike Thiessen, who delivered a powerful talk that took attendees on a meaningful journey through learning, love and leadership. His insights into “What Makes Playing & Coaching at the Air Force Academy so Special — and the Purpose Behind it All” captivated the audience, sparking thoughtful reflection and enthusiastic discussion.

Guests arrived with picnic baskets in hand, bringing a wide variety of creative and delicious meals to enjoy around checkered tablecloths—true to the event’s name and spirit.

“This was a phenomenal start to our new series,” said a TLWC Co-President Kathy Budney. “Mike Thiessen set the bar high, and we’re thrilled by the response from the community.”

The next Checkered Table Talk will be held on May 8, featuring Nathan Newbrough, President & CEO of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, as the guest speaker.
