Ice skating begins its popular family season at 4-6 and 7-9 p.m. Friday as Skate in the Park leads the schedule of holiday-opening activities in Acacia Park downtown. Community caroling with Soli Deo Gloria Choir fills the air at 5:30 p.m. and a full celebration with U.S. Figure Skating demonstrations, music and Santa followed by the holiday tree lighting.

Each light on the trees on the grounds of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum has a special meaning, honoring the memory of loved ones, military and first responders. It’s a touching Trees of Life tradition by Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care. Lights go on at 5 p.m. as names of those remembered are read. 215 S.
