Grass fire near Red Rock Canyon contained
An estimated 2-acre grass fire near Red Rock Canyon is contained, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
“Crews … are now working to mop up the area of any hot spots,” the department said via Twitter.
Smoke from the fire could be seen from downtown and other parts of the city.
A department spokeswoman could not confirm reports that the fire was started by a model rocket. She said an investigator is responding to the scene.
