Wildfires are no laughing matter.

But there are moments of levity even in difficult times.

Last year, during the Waldo Canyon Fire, it happened during a press conference when Colorado Springs resident Rita Ague asked whether weather control satellites could be used to fight the fire.

“Weather? Weather control?” a perplexed Mayor Steve Bach asked last year.

“Weather control satellites,” Ague responded.

“And I would suggest strongly that you ask the Northern Command Center for information on (weather control satellites) if you have none,” she added.

For the Black Forest Fire, Sheriff Terry Maketa’s description of Twitter drew chuckles and quickly spread over social media.

When someone asked during Tuesday’s press conference how information would be distributed to residents, Maketa had this to say:

“The question was: ‘Will it be on a website?’ We are using … uh … uh … the tweet thing. Twitter,” he said.

Reporters busted out laughing.

“Wow,” Maketa said after the laughter quieted down. “Yes, Twitter.”
