Death ruled city’s 16th homicide
The woman found dead Wednesday in a north Colorado Springs apartment died from “multiple sharp forced injuries,” the autopsy found.
The El Paso County Coroner ruled the death a homicide Thursday, the city’s 16th this year.
27-year-old Rebecca Schilthuis was found by police in her apartment Wednesday morning at the New Horizon Apartments, 4975 El Camino Drive, near Academy and Union boulevards. Police were called around 9:30 a.m. to check on Schilthuis.
Neither police nor the coroner’s office would say what caused Schilthuis’ injuries.
No arrests have been made.
Schilthuis’ death puts the city even with the number of homicides by this time last year.
