Events to watch: Forsyth, who was out for more than two weeks with a back injury, is the defending champ in both the 200 and 500 free, but teammate Wahl has an identical seed time in the 500.

CORONADO

Participants: Morgan DeWitt 50 free (20th); Samantha Grosslight 200 free (33rd); Allie Jacobs 200 IM (sixth), 100 fly (fourth); Taylor Kay 50 free (seventh), 100 free (10th); Katy Martinez 500 free (27th); 200 medley relay (seventh); 200 free relay (fourth); 400 free relay (ninth); Kellye Rather diving.

Events to watch: Kay’s seed time in the 50 free is just over a second slower than the top seed. But she’s trained all season at higher altitude than Loveland, and that could give her just enough of an edge in an event where anything can happen. Although Jacobs’ seeding times give her the best shots at an individual title for the Cougars, who also move down to 4A this y ear.

DISCOVERY CANYON

Participants: Lauren Funk 100 fly (31st), 100 breast (ninth); Emily Hand 200 free (32nd), 100 back (17th); Kelsey Oettinger 200 free (21st), 500 free (17th); 200 medley relay (14th); 200 free relay (18th); 400 free relay (18th); Kaydee Valliere diving.

Events to watch: The Thunder likely will only have one shot at the finals: Funk in the 100 breast. And even then, she’ll have to move up one spot to make it there.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY

Participants: Alanna Erickson 100 free (13th); Kirstin Jauch 100 fly (11th); 200 free relay (19th); 400 free relay (22nd); Maia Presti diving.

Events to watch:  Erickson and Jauch both won their individual events at last week’s 3A Independent League Championships. However, the consolation finals are about as far as they’ll reach against much stiffer competition at state.

MANITOU SPRINGS

Participant: Kimi Tanabe diving.

ST. MARY’S

Participants: Tenley Barr 200 IM (19th), 100 breast (17th); Heather Black 500 free (23rd); Meghan Harder 50 free (30th); 200 medley relay (24th); 200 free relay (31st); 400 free relay (30th); Allyson Naftanel.

Events to watch:  Barr will have her work cut out for her in both the 200 IM and 100 breast to even make the consolation finals.

WASSON

Where: Edora Pool Ice Center, Fort Collins

DOHERTY

Participants:  Emily Gradisar 200 free (40th); Sarah James 200 IM (14th), 100 back (fifth); Maggie Morris 50 free (25th), 100 breast (27th); 200 medley relay (16th); 200 free relay (22nd); 400 free relay (23rd).

Events to watch:  James finished fourth in the 100 back as a freshman last year, and she’ll again face stiff competition from Regis Jesuit sophomore and U.S. national team member Missy Franklin, who won in record time last year.

LEWIS-PALMER

Participants: Shannon Babcock 200 IM (50th), 100 breast (24th); Olga Britton 200 IM (47th), 100 fly (26th); Alex Claude 100 free (41st), 100 back (15th); Laura Day 50 free (20th), 100 breast (third); Alexis Hess 200 IM (45th); Karin Roh 50 free (13th), 100 free (seventh); Niki Russell 100 free (20th); 200 medley relay (10th); 200 free relay (11th); 400 free relay (ninth); Chandler Marshall diving

Events to watch: The Rangers move up to 5A this year, and Roh, a sophomore in her first year of high school swimming, likely will face Cherry Creek star Bonnie Brandon in the 100 free finals. Brandon, like Regis’ Franklin, dominates like nothing you’ve seen before. The junior broke state records in every event she swam last year and in three of her four events in 2009. Day’s third-place seeding — best among all area competitors — in the 100 breast also comes with a time 3 seconds slower than the leader.

LIBERTY

Participants:  Courtney Reed 50 free (34th), 100 free (19th); 200 medley relay (31st).

Events to watch:  Reed is .26 of a second off the time of the 16th-place seed in the 100 free, giving her a decent chance at making the consolation finals.

PALMER

Participant: Amanda Jennings diving

Event to watch: Last year, Jennings finished 17th in the preliminaries, missing the finals by .55 of a point.

PINE CREEK

Participants: Madison Cooper 200 free (18th), 100 free (22nd); 200 medley relay (30th); 200 free relay (23rd); 400 free relay (29th).

Events to watch:  Cooper is among several locals on the bubble for the consolation finals in the 100 free.

RAMPART

Participants: Lucile Chevalier 200 free (15th), 100 free (15th); Carli Snyder 200 IM (41st), 100 fly (30th); 200 medley relay (21st); 200 free relay (21st); 400 free relay (18th).

Events to watch:  If Chevalier, an exchange student, can get anywhere close to the times she has said she swims in France, she could surprise and make the finals in either the 200 or 100 free.
