A shooting Thursday night in the 300 block of East Las Vegas Street left a man dead.

Police got a call for a possible home invasion about 8:20 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man dead and learned that a dark, older pickup truck had left the scene, said Sgt. Darrin Abbink, a police spokesman.

Shortly afterward, police stopped a black, older Chevrolet pickup at the intersection of Nevada Avenue and Cimarron Street.

A silver Kia sedan also showed up, and three people Abbink identified only as witnesses were taken to the Police Operations Center for questioning.

The name of the man shot on Las Vegas Street was not released Thursday night.

If the El Paso County Coroner’s Office rules the death a homicide, it will be the city’s sixth this year.
