The Rockies celebrated their past on a Monday night when their immediate future turned grim.

On the 15th anniversary of the Rockies’ first home run in the inaugural game at Coors Field, Dante Bichette threw out the first pitch to former teammate Larry Walker.

That qualified as the premier highlight, as mounting injuries proved a buzz kill in the Rockies’ 5-3 loss that spawned a dramatic roster shuffle.

Pitcher Jorge De La Rosa is headed for the disabled list with an injured left middle finger, general manager Dan O’Dowd confirmed. De La Rosa has a torn flexor tendon band that won’t require surgery but demands rest.

“He’s going to be out for a while. If he pushed it, he could be lost for the season,” O’Dowd said.

Four hours after De La Rosa’s MRI diagnosis, starter Jason Hammel strained his right groin on the final pitch in the third inning. He insisted that the injury was no excuse for his poor performance, saying “the bottom line is that I am better than this.” Hammel’s ineffectiveness — a 9.16 ERA and two starts where he didn’t last more than three innings — likely will land him on the DL.
