East Colorado Springs apartment complex patrol leads to two arrests
A nightly patrol of an east Colorado Springs apartment complex led to a short pursuit and the arrests of a man and a woman wanted on felony warrants, police said.
Kyle William Sutcliffe, 23, and Leah Paige Barnett, 22, were arrested Wednesday about 10:30 p.m. when officers patrolling the Cedar Creek Club Apartments, off South Chelton Road and East Fountain Boulevard, spotted a vehicle linked to a wanted felon, police said.
When officers tried to contact the driver, identified as Sutcliffe, he allegedly ran from police, who set up containment surrounding the apartment complex.
A K-9 officer found Sutcliffe hiding behind some bushes in the north end of the complex and he was taken into custody without incident, police said.
Sutcliffe was arrested on suspicion of possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest and drug paraphernalia and a previous felony drug possession warrant, police said.
Barnett, who was in the vehicle with Sutcliffe, was taken into custody on a felony warrant for criminal impersonation, police said.
Both suspects remained in the El Paso County jail Thursday waiting to be advised of their charges, records show.
