The ex-girlfriend of Semyon Varlamov has filed a lawsuit claiming the Colorado Avalanche goalie beat and humiliated her for years before his arrest in October 2013.

The civil lawsuit, filed in Denver District Court on Monday, details years of alleged abuse during which Evgeniya Vavrinyuk claims Varlamov repeatedly beat her with closed fists, pulled and dragged her by her hair and kicked her. Vavrinyuk, 24, is seeking unspecified damages for her loss of income, injures and humiliation caused by the abuse.

“I can’t say anything about it,” Varlamov told The Denver Post. “Like I said before this happened to me last year and I’ve been answering so many questions about it. No comments right now.”

Varlamov, 26, was arrested in October 2013 on suspicion of felony kidnapping and assault after Vavrinyuk told police Varlamov drunkenly kicked her, knocked her down and grabbed her by the hair inside his Denver apartment. Investigators noted that Vavrinyuk was bruised from the attack.
