A home in Black Forest burned for two hours Wednesday, causing such severe damage that the floors became unsafe for firefighters to walk on.

The house at 14290 Holmes Road was uninhabitable. There are no hydrants in the area, so multiple trucks and five fire departments were needed to bring water to the fire, said Jaime Hatzel, spokeswoman for the Black Forest Fire Department.

The Tri-Lakes, Larkspur, Falcon and Wescott fire departments also responded.

The owner was at home at the time and reported heavy smoke to 911 before evacuating about 3:30 p.m.  Crews had the fire out at 5:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Hatzel said.
