Trump: Maybe Bush lied, maybe he didn’t
Donald Trump began his final full day of campaigning in South Carolina by backing off his claim — somewhat — that former president George W. Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction to justify the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
“He could have lied — maybe he did, maybe he didn’t,” Trump said on NBC’s Today show. “I guess you’d have to ask him.”
The New York billionaire maintained his criticism of the Iraq War itself, calling it “one of the worst decisions ever made in the history of our country” because it further destabilized the Middle East.
