2016 Cadillac SRX SUV: Cadillac makes a distinct statement with the SRX

Cadillac’s top-selling car in its lineup, the SRX, is smartly engineered with assertive styling, lavish technology and the luxury features you might expect. Classic Cadillac design touches are noticeable in the opulent finishes throughout, such as genuine premium materials, hand stitching, comforts and conveniences aplenty, and standard 4G WiFi capability.

The eye-catching 2016 crossover displays sharp angles and crisp, clean lines accenting the signature shield grille flanked by the iconic vertical headlamps. Fresh and contemporary, Cadillac’s Art & Science styling theme creates an innovative and sophisticated car.

“Combining Art & Science together in the design creates a very distinct car,” said Drew Mau, Sales Consultant with Red Noland Cadillac.  “Its why Cadillac stand outs and makes a statement in the automotive market.”

Inside the SRX, topnotch quality and rich comforts are expertly brought together. Spacious accommodations enjoy respectable headroom and pleasant rear seating, even for adults.  The panoramic sunroof in the test drive established a mesmerizing viewpoint for passengers up front and in back.

A refined mix of touchscreen interfaces blend with well-defined controls and buttons centered on the CUE (Cadillac User Experience) infotainment system.  Highlights of the CUE foundation include standard HD radio, Bluetooth audio streaming, along with a handy USB port, auxiliary jack and 12-volt power outlet in the center console.

One of the most progressive instrument panels out there, SRX includes an eight-inch capacitive screen interface along with touch-based controls conveying both haptic feedback and proximity sensing. CUE pairs information from up to 10 Bluetooth-enable mobile devices, USB’s, SD cards and MP3 players and makes it easy to customize information, use voice commands and provides large icons.  Whether an experienced technology user or a novice, CUE can be easy or offer more multipurpose functioning.

A clever storage bin, (or “James Bond compartment” as Mau called it), hidden behind the CUE faceplate, houses an additional USB port and can be locked, making it a very convenient place to store small stuff safely.

The option of active noise cancellation inside the cabin, takes the blissfully quiet ride to a whole new level.  Bose premium 8-speaker audio comes on the standard trim package along with a 60/40 rear seat with pass-through, leather trimmed steering wheel, and more.

Luxury, Performance and Premium trim levels can get you enhanced elements like the Bose 10-speaker Centerpoint Surround Sound system, tri-zone climate control, keyless acess, rearview camera system, heated front seats and steering wheel, an UltraView power sunroof, and much more.

Cargo space is already liberal, but can be expanded.  “The rear seats are able to recline a bit, and they can be folded completely flat, increasing cargo space to almost 63 cubic feet.”

The 2016 SRX comes with a choice of all-wheel drive or standard front-wheel drive. The 3.6-liter V-6 engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission generating 308-horsepower. Along with impressive maneuvering, the SRX yields a quiet, confident and comfortable ride.

In terms of safety, antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags and side curtain airbags are all standard. Available OnStar (with a complimentary 12-month trial) includes automatic crash notification, on-demand roadside assistance, remote door unlocking, stolen vehicle assistance and turn-by-turn navigation. Front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are included starting on the Luxury trim level.

SRX offers a Driver Awareness package (standard on the Premium package) delivering forward collision alert, lane departure warning and a safety alert driver seat. The safety alert seat vibrates on the left or right side depending on the direction it senses a potential hazard. The optional Driver Assist package features automatic collision preparation and braking – both in reverse and when moving forward.

In government crash tests, the SRX received five stars for overall crash protection, with four stars for total frontal impact protection and five stars for total side-impact protection. In crash testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the SRX received the top rating of “Good” in the moderate-overlap frontal-offset impact test, as well as a “Good” score for the side-impact, roof-strength and seat/head restraint (whiplash protection) tests. The IIHS also rated the SRX’s optional frontal collision warning and mitigation systems collectively as “Superior.”

With crisp and responsive handling, the SRX also commands swift acceleration with undetectable gear changes that augment the ultra-quiet cabin.  But, the real beauty of the SRX is in the finely crafted details like premium materials, polished fit and finish that only comes from Cadillac, and a poised and secure driving proficiency that ties it all together seamlessly.
