Climber falls from Devil’s Head Trail in Douglas County
Douglas County rescue teams Sunday afternoon were able to reach an injured climber who fell 100 feet in the area of Devil’s Head mountain.
The climber was transported to an area hospital via medical helicopter. The extent of the climber’s injuries were not known by Sunday night.
Witnesses said the climber had landed on a ledge about 40 feet high. Sheriff’s deputies and Douglas County Search and Rescue hiked to the location of the injured climber, which was about 1 1/2 miles from the roadway.
Rescue workers were able to get the hiker down off the ledge where medical personnel were staged.
