The body of a 31-year-old Utah woman was found Wednesday three miles downstream from where her raft overturned in the Arkansas River, according to the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office.

Amanda Taylor, of Vernal, Utah, had been missing since Saturday night, when she was tossed from a raft as it rode over a diversion dam on the river.

Taylor’s brother found her body on the east bank of the Arkansas River at the confluence of the Little Arkansas River near Salida’s south city limits, the sheriff’s office said.

Taylor’s family had remained in Salida to search for her after Chaffee County Search and Rescue crews had combed about 30 miles of downstream terrain over the weekend.

The body was released to the El Paso County coroner and an autopsy will be conducted Thursday in Colorado Springs, the sheriff’s office said.

Six people have died in the Arkansas River in southern Colorado since the beginning of June and 15 rafting drowning deaths have been reported statewide this year, according to the American Whitewater Affiliation.
