Police are searching for a 28-year-old man with a history of violence in Monday night’s shooting during a brawl in east Colorado Springs that left one man critically wounded.

Donny Lopez, 28, is wanted on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder in the shooting around 7 p.m. in the 5500 block of Bonita Village Road, near Palmer Park and Powers boulevards.

The wounded man, whose name has not been released, was shot in the head. He was conscious when he was driven to a local hospital, witnesses said.

No information was available Tuesday on the victim’s condition.

Lopez was convicted of felony child abuse in 2004, and felony menacing in 2007.

A neighborhood resident, who did not want to be named, said there was an argument and fistfight, and then he heard someone yell “gun.” Then he heard the pop of a gun being fired.

Police believe Lopez was driving an older, white Chevy Camaro with a T-top and Colorado license plates. Lopez is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
