Six indicted on sex charges after Springs teen’s kidnapping

A Denver grand jury Wednesday indicted six people on charges related to the kidnapping of a Colorado Springs 17-year-old and her coercion into a life of prostitution in Denver.

David Glenn Abney, Chrystal Terbush, Tevin Willis and Daivean Shields were charged with numerous felonies, including trafficking children, second-degree kidnapping, inducement of child prostitution, and pimping and pandering of a child.

Abney, 32, Terbush, 28, and Shields, 19, also face a charge of violating the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act.

Abney, Terbush and Shields are in custody, but Willis, 19, failed to appear in court Wednesday. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

In May, the victim decided not to return home after being suspended from school. She stayed with Shields, described in the indictment as her ex-boyfriend.

Shields informed the victim, who is now 18, that she was going to go with Abney so she could make some money in Denver, the indictment says.

The girl got into Abney’s car with Willis, Terbush and a 19-year-old woman called Cinnamon Toast O’Conner.

Once in Denver, Terbush groomed the girl and O’Conner on the ways of prostitution and told them how to determine whether clients were actually police officers and how to collect money from johns, the indictment says.
