Arrests made in fatal fight near Fort Carson

Two teenagers are accused of killing a man in a fight in the Stratmoor Hills area early Friday morning.

Carlos Olguin, 18, is suspected of first degree murder in the shooting death of 25-year-old Joshua Fields, said Lt. Lari Sevene, El Paso County Sheriff’s spokeswoman. A 17-year-old, whose name has not been released, is also accused in the killing.

Field’s death is the second homicide this year in unincorporated El Paso County.

Just after midnight Friday, deputies found a 17-year-old who had been stabbed seeking help at a pizza place at the Stratmoor Shops on B Street. He told deputies there was another victim nearby before being taken to a hospital.

Fields was found dead of a single shot to the chest in front of an apartment in the 1600 block of Hampton Road South.

Olguin, who was found near Loomis Avenue and Dove Place, was hospitalized for stab woulds to the head, neck and back. He was released Monday and arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Trinidad.

Olguin is being held at the El Paso County jail without bond. The 17-year-old is in custody at the Spring Creek Detention Facility on unrelated warrants.
