Suspicious package near downtown Colorado Springs park determined harmless
A suspicious package near the Fountain Creek Trail in Dorchester Park, south of downtown Colorado Springs, was found to be a harmless inert device for military training, police said.
Police Lt. Catherine Buckley said no roads were closed as of 2 p.m. Monday but the trail near South Nevada Avenue and Interstate 25 was temporarily blocked off as the bomb squad investigated.
The device, which was initially reported to police about 12:50 p.m., was recovered without incident and returned to military personnel, police said.
