More than a dozen homes in west Colorado Springs went without water for several hours Wednesday after a main water line broke and utilities crews had to block off a road for repairs, utilities officials said.

The water leak was first reported about 8 a.m. from the 400 block of Brandywine Drive, off Broadmoor Bluffs Drive and south of the Broadmoor Golf Club, said utilities spokeswoman Amy Trinidad.

Utilities work crews blocked off the residential road and water service was cut off to 15 homes while repairs got underway, Trinidad said.

Water service was expected to resume for all customers affected by 3 p.m. and the road repairs could be completed by 7 p.m., Trinidad said.
